使用熱導(dǎo)池為檢測(cè)器，氣相色譜法分析氣體中一氧化碳和二氧化碳時(shí)只能檢測(cè)到較高的含量，對(duì)于氣體中μg級(jí)一氧化碳和二氧化碳的分析,受熱導(dǎo)池檢測(cè)器檢測(cè)限的影響,不能滿足分析要求，而一氧化碳和二氧化碳在氫焰檢測(cè)器上又無(wú)響應(yīng)，因此可采用甲烷轉(zhuǎn)化法，將一氧化碳和二氧化碳加氫轉(zhuǎn)化成甲烷，再由氫焰檢測(cè)器來(lái)檢測(cè) 。

K.Porten和D.V.Volman在1962年介紹了將CO，CO2，H2等催化還原生成甲烷后用氫火焰離子化檢測(cè)器進(jìn)行檢測(cè)。Johns和Thomson進(jìn)一步證實(shí)了這一方法, 并測(cè)定了每種氣體的操作參數(shù),目前氣體中微量碳的分析方法有多種途徑，但其中為簡(jiǎn)單快捷的是氣相色譜中甲烷轉(zhuǎn)化爐法。樣品通過(guò)色譜柱實(shí)現(xiàn)組分的分離，在甲烷轉(zhuǎn)化爐中由Ni(鎳)觸媒將分離的一氧化碳和二氧化碳加氫轉(zhuǎn)化為甲烷，而后再通過(guò)氫焰檢測(cè)器檢出。

For the analysis of μg-level carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide in the gas, the detection limit of the thermal conductivity cell detector cannot be satisfied. Analysis requirements, and carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide have no response on the hydrogen flame detector, so the methane conversion method can be used to hydrogenate carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide into methane, which is then detected by the hydrogen flame detector.
