The determination of methanol moisture is an important measurement item in methanol products. At present, the only method for determining the moisture content of methanol in relevant standards is the Karl Fischer method. This method uses Karl Fischer reagent (a solution consisting of iodine, sulfur dioxide, pyridine, and methanol) to quantitatively react with a trace amount of water in a sample, and then uses a Karl Fischer reagent with a known water content to determine the trace moisture in the sample. This method is cumbersome to operate, and Karl reagent is not easy to keep and toxic.
